I bought this toy for my son who absolutely loves the pod race scene from Star Wars Episode I Phantom Menace. The toy is well built and sturdy. The rods that hold the pod body to the engines are metal, so the toy should hold together for a long time. There is a handle for the child to hold on to between the pod enignes, which my son loves since he can "fly" the pod all around the house. We returned it because it fell apart the first night, and wouldn't hold the missiles in. If you are a collector, it would be a nice addition. For my 7 yo son, it was a big disappointment after he saved up his money to be able to PLAY with it.

So finally a good sandperson toy. I agree its the best to come out since the original but you would think that for the VOTC price tag you would get more articulation....yes it has some but the arms are not that great. Our 8 yr old wanted to spend some Christmas money on this item. We were very happy to find it on Amazon for $25. We had looked at it in many other stores for anywhere from $30 - $50. I read him some reviews from here, particularly regarding the "voice changer" before purchasing, but he wanted it anyway.

He LOVES this toy. It does require snapping together, and was a little tricky, but not too bad. The "voice changer" does not. And the microphone does not reach his mouth, so he really does not use that part of the helmet. Nevertheless, he loves playing with it, and being a clone trooper. He is a little smaller than average, but has never complained that the helmet hurt him or was too heavy. Mostly he uses his own voice and commands. He wears it outside, playing imagination battle games. It has been dropped on hard floors several times, but has not broken.

This was the first gift opened on Christmas morning. It prompted alot of discussion in our house about the Star Wars movies - old, new, which ones were the best, etc. Of the Christmas toys this year, these light sabers have been the sturdiest and the ones that the kids play with consistently. Well, maybe we do. Darth Vader is one of the most easily recognizable villains of all time.
